Big fat nothing

Amazing how a horse can hide
and a testament to the area I live in

it's a big open area

I've spent most of the last week
fretting with worry
and riding my butt off

I hurt bad

and nothing

no new tracks
nothing

we got good rain here last night
so tonight we'll trailer out to a different area
and check to make sure she hasn't been there

Wade's horse is still injured
not healing well
and I may haul her in to work tomorrow

it's not a big cut
but it's on the outside of her fetlock
and it's just not closing up the way I'd like

I am coming to terms with the fact
that I may not see Sugarfoot again
and I probably won't write much on the subject
from here on out
unless I have something to report

I've been on a roller coaster of emotions
and I really have to let it go
and concentrate on my regular life

that said...
Sunday morning
we rode out at 6 a.m.
all of us

we found nothing of course
other than seeing one coyote
but we decided after we got back
we'd toodle up the road to Sedona
and play in Oak Creek Canyon

it was glorious

along the way we stopped at the
Chapel of the Holy Cross

if you go to Sedona
this church is a must see
Wade and Mercy hadn't seen it
so I sat in the truck with Little Dude
while they went inside

I still haven't bought a camera
so all I have is the one shot off my phone
but you get the idea

I spent a blessedly horse free afternoon
laying on a rock
letting fish nibble my fingers
and watching crawdads feed off the bottom

while Wade, Mercy and LD
swam and played and explored the creek

I simply must do stuff like that more often

onward and upward
life goes on...

Sorry to hear that there is still no sign of Sugarfoot.
Sounds like you had a relaxing day at the creek. That church is amazing!

I, for one, could use some more rattlesnake stories. Just sayin...

Sugarfoot is nothing if she isn't tuff!

you know for sure that the minute you quit thinking and looking for her....she'll turn up, right?

Bless you for giving yourself an afternoon to do nothing more than stare at fish. She made her choice, nothing much else you can do other than what you have and are doing.

And yes, I am secretly wondering if Griton was a hairdresser in another life! New update on sheep ownership to be posted tonight when I have time. Carmon

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. We just got back to a computer after a trip. I will pray. I bet she is fine wherever she is. Trust. But damn it is hard.

Bummer - but at least you got out of town for a bit. We like to camp at Oak Creek Canyon

Sometimes, when you've done all you can do in a situation, it's time to step back and see what God does with it.

In the meantime, enjoy the stuff that is within your grasp.

Hey. Did you get your independence package?

Thought of you last night again Mikey, while we fed the fishes here. HUGE catfishes, begging to be caught by someone like yourself! ;)

Rubs to Wade's mare from me please...

When you have done as much as you can, you put your trust in God that things will turn out the way He wants. Keep a lookout, and keep hope, but don't let it consume you. Sugarfoot is a survivor, and she'll turn up somewhere when she needs to eat and drink. Bless you for yor efforts, and glad you had a relaxing day.

Thank you for the comment on my post - we had a really hard night last night and I kept reading everyone's comments as they brought me and the family some comfort.

I know I've told you like a dozen times but I am sorry about Sugarfoot and still hold on to some hope for you - but if you never do see her again, at least you gave her what no one else has given her, you gave her the opportunity to choose.

I am so sorry about Sugarfoot. I wish there was something I could do to help make you feel better. I also hope Wade's horse gets feeling better too. And that church!! Oh my goodness!! HUGE coming out of that rock.

That church is amazing! Sorry to hear there has been no sign of Sugarfoot. I think if any horse could survive out there, she could! My horse wouldn't last two hours out there. Don't beat yourself up. Relax and take a break, and some clue will turn up!

I like Stephanie's comment, Mikey. You go right back up there and read it again. 'You gave her the chance to choose'. That's about right.

I logged on, hoping that there would be some good news. You and Sugarfoot are still in my prayers. IF and when she does "find" You, then she will never leave again. It will of been her decision and you will bond stronger than ever. She is just out there thinking. IF she can get back to you, I believe in my heart that she will. I will keep watching for some news, and hope soon it will be good news. GET A CAMERA GIRLFRIEND! LOL I miss your pictures.

Mikey, You gave that horse every chance in the world above and beyond what anyone else would do with such a wild thang. Now onto your fish nibbling experience, Ron and i have been having as many days like that as we can lately and our little cowgirl bunkhouse on wheels was just the boost we needed to pop out of a maddening rut. It was cheap and we are loving it. Have fun every chance you can. Ron is improving and may get to come home tomorrow!!

You are so right...there never is a dull moment for you. I'm so sorry to hear about Sugarfoot...and you were really comin' 'round the corner with her too. I'll still hope that she'll find a reason to head on back home...to your place.

Chin up cowgirl~~

Are you so close to Sedona? I love that place! I've been to that Chapel myself, though not for some time. I'm glad you had a fairly relaxing day in the Oak Crkke. Sedona is a vortex in the Universe ( so the saying goes) and special people pick up on the healing vibes there. I hope you were healed a little bit by it yourself.
Good luck and Happy(ier) Trails.

So glad you were able to have a relaxing afternoon in Sedona. My cousin was married in that church.
I'm so sad for you about SugarFoot. :(
