Gymkhana results

We rode yesterday
even though it was 115 degrees at 5 pm

Carroll Farm did a great post about it too
that's how I know how hot it was

at 10 pm when we finished
it was 104 degrees

yes Mrs. Mom
a dry heat is better
cause you can hose down to cool off
the only problem being 30 seconds later
you're dry again

we love it

Carroll Farm caught us warming up

Wade left his regular horse at home
and rode Bo
his heel horse
who has never seen a gymkhana event in his life

Mercy heading for the flag race

and successfully completing it

Grandma came out to watch

it was a pretty good turnout

most of my pictures didn't turn out
I'm still learning how to work this camera
and I didn't have time to fool with it
when I was running
"Go Mama Go!"
That's what Mercy would cheer for me

"Go Daddy Go!"
Wade was cheered on too

we did pretty good overall

Mercy came in 2nd overall
behind a 4 yr old on a great old horse
after she came in 2nd on poles and flag race
she got competitive and won the barrels

Wade
because he rode Bo
didn't do quite as well
but they didn't do bad either
for having never done it on this horse

I took 1st overall
I think I only won the barrels
but I placed in flag and poles

the best part for me
is how much I love riding my horse
and how well he works

he's just push button these days

Here's Mercy and her friend Reina
they're about inseperable

Here's the new horse No-Name
he'll be getting a trim and comb-out this evening

we're so glad to own him now
he's a great lil horse
bout 14 hands

and here's Thelma today
still rockin' the fat face
it spread a bit into her cheeks last night
but it's not too bad
I expect her to be back to normal
in a week or so

Mercy was dang cute - so was that other tiny one. Josh is really going to start working with Jasmine when school starts - Justice will be going to preschool - so it will just be the 2 of them. When the $2 gymkhana's start we should have all of our girls in - more to get patterns and just used to it.

it was fun last night and VERy warm. Dry heat over humidity any day. :)

Dude-- still 115*? Yik!!! So how on Earth can Wade work in long sleeves out there???

Humidity = dumping water on your head, you start to mold. Nothing dries until you get inside in AC. Hosing the horses off, we have to scrape any excess water off, as it will make them hotter if we leave it on. Sonny loves to stand under the hose though!!

Love that first shot that the Carrolls got of you three!! Too cute! Congrats on your runs too!! Sounds like more fun ahead for all of you!

Looks like fun, but I know better. 115!?! Crazy. We hit 70 today, cool even for us. Yesterday rode the bike down closer to your old stompin grounds of Fort Bragg. Mercy and her horse are so darn cute. They always make me smile. Congrats ladies on 1st and 2nd overall. The dinamic duo. How does one spell dinamic? That don't look right?

Love that first picture of the family!
Sounds like a great gymkhana! Congrats!!
I have never been in 115 degree temps before, I think the hottest is 104, with very high humidity!

I hope you frame that first picture - so cute!

What's no-names' story? Let me know if you need a name, we have several left overs.

Congrats on the big wins for everybody!

What great photos, especially the family shot. Your boy is looking so good.

I bow to you...115 would lay me out flat and kill me.

It's great that you do stuff as a family on horseback, and even better when you do it well! (Pats on the back for your wins!)
Is No Name going to get a real name, or is that his name?

Just had to tell you that we've been repeating all weekend- : "...you and your little french fry tail!" hilarious!
Try to stay out of the sun-
rained here Saturday!

Those two little cuties are just so pretty! Musta been hard not to want to swoop 'em up and give 'em a snuggle. hehe!

No Name....does he have a name yet now? I wish you could come out here and find me a horse just for me. I'm shell-shocked about looking for a horse on my own...afraid I'll end up being taken advantage of again by a horse dealer.
Sure could use a horse like Mercy's....just a little taller. But not taller than 15hh.

I;m glad Thelma's face is doing better and she survived the attack. I bet she's getting tons of extra attention and treats, too.

Stay cool, Mikey!
