I did miss posting on the 4th
Happy 4th of July all!
no news on Sugarfoot
no sign
no spottings
nada
I am a little amazed that I have
actually lost a horse
I'd like to say this is my first time
but it's not
I lost 4 horses in the Castle Hot Springs area
oddly enough
over a 4th of July years back
they all got loose while camping
I tracked them on foot
and ran out of water
as they ran circles around me
I had left one rideable horse at home
and I managed to get the paint pony back on foot
under a full moon
he got separated from the bunch
and into the cholla
when I found him wandering a canyon
he had cholla on his back
but was otherwise unharmed
the other 3...
I got smart and went to the local rodeo
found my friends little brother and his friends
and begged them to ride out with me and
rope my wild horses
and they did
they got a rope on Monte
and that stopped the whole bunch
I have a picture somewhere of him
being sheepishly led back in
I think Monte was 2 or 3 yrs old back then
ahh the days...
but I have never lost one for this long
*******************
Wade went into to town this morning
to have a chat with his little brother
who recently graduated high school
now tell me if this sounds fishy
his brother Jeff has apparently found a job
he found this online
thru a friend of a friend thing
and he says he's going to Idaho
to work in a pizza shop
on a lake
and stay in a cabin or tent on the lake
and the owner is going to pay for his ticket
and fly him up there
to work for the summer
does that sound right?
we do not think so
and neither does anyone else
being a small town
we heard about this at the fireworks show
Friday night
it was quite the topic of conversation
and then Wade got a call today
from yet another person related
who wants to know
is Wade going to do something about this?
so off he went this morning
to try to persuade his little brother
that this doesn't sound right
I mean really
can't this pizza owner in Idaho
find a kid up there to work?
not right at all
needless to say
Jeff is very excited
ready to go right now
he's not exactly what I'd call
street smart
so we'll see what happens...

Ah, Mikey. I can honestly say that I have never lost a horse. Because I've never had one. If I had a horse, I'm sure I would have lost it at least once. I am a good loser of all things.
Maybe Jeff should out if the Pizza shop really exists first, (try the phone book) then maybe he should ask himself if the guy is gay or a pediphile......sure sounds fishy to me......
Did you ever talk to anyone who flies over the area where Sugarfoot should be? Can't beleive she is leaving no sign, it doesn't bode well for her still being alive.Sigh.
I lost canyon and woody once in a state park. We found them a few hours later, looking at us like they couldn't believe it took us so long.
It was good we found them because they were so domesticated that they wouldn't know what to do with themselves.
Sugarfoot seems to have a strong wild spirit and intact survival instinct. Maybe that'll keep her going until...
If it sounds to good to be true...
I always loved camping with my old mare Catana , never had to hobble her , she was always in site of the tent/camper and of course the trailer ( wasn't gonna miss her ride home!
Get someone with an airplane I bet if they took a fly over they may see her.
Eeek poisonus toads!! D:
Your brother in law is setting himself up for big trouble if he goes to Idaho. Hasn't he ever heard of slave labor? They'll get him up there, no family, friends or anyone who cares about him and they can do anything they please to him. I'd wrassle him into the closet until he 'gets it'.
Sorry about Sugarfoot...really. Never lost one, but never had a big open space like you all do either. I'm praying she shows her head soon.
Interesting post. Poisonous toads, missing horse and a suspicious job in Idaho. Sounds like the makings of a who dun it novel. Keep up the good work.... and sending prayers your way. :-)
Looks like Froggy went a courtin
Love the frogs!
If he comes on up to Idaho and ends up in trouble anywhere near us, look me up and maybe we can help him out. He's young, he needs to sow his wild oats now or he might regret it later. I think it sounds kinda fun...
Hope something turns up with Sugarfoot soon. She's sure good at getting lost.
We drove through Arizona from CA today...through Goodyear, Phoenix. Believe it or not, I was actually LOOKING for that darn bad girl SUGARFOOT! Nothing. Nada. We are in Prescott now, heading out to Flagstaff and then Kingman. If I see a horse with a halter and lead rope loose in the desert, I KNOW it will be her! HA! Fat chance! And poisonous frogs? Yuck!
I was also thinking, why couldn't the pizza place hire a local kid. Does sound suspicious.
I have never lost a horse, but a big fear is one or all might get out, and I'll come home and won't be able to find them. I really hope Sugarfoot makes an appearance to someone soon! I was also thinking, airplane. But that won't be cheap, unless you know someone that has an airplane that would do you a favor and fly around.
I have heard of poisonous toads, how scary is that? I am glad the dogs leave them alone!
I sure don't miss the poisonous toads. Red Dog has a bad habit of "playing" with the sand toads he finds.
I think Sugarfoot has moved to new territory. She ran for at least a year without company so is used to being alone. She is one independent lady. But I sure hope you all hear some news of her soon. Has to be worrysome.
Hope Wade can talk some sense into his little brother. It's one thing to take off on an adventure...have done so many a time myself. But I have always had my own set of wheels. Never, ever felt comfortable going anywhere I couldn't drive away from.:)
Dude- toads... I'll think twice about the two or three that visit here now... lol
That Monster Catfish? He's waiting for you Mikey.... We had some friends out yesterday and one was dipping his line, trying his best to get that cat- with no luck. Come and get him! ;)
maybe wade can call the local police in the pizza shop area? ask them what they think? bc regardless, the police should know someone from their area is running a potential scam.
thinking about SF all the time. the plane is good -- do you know anyone? maybe you can get an estimate for an hour or two of flight time? then raise some money. everyone can donate a couple of bucks. just a thought
Crumbs! I'm sorry to hear that Sugarfoot is still on the lam. That was a brilliant idea you had last time, getting the rodeo boys to help out. I'll bet they loved putting their skills to good use, too.
I'm of no help re: the Jeff thing. I love an adventure, so I'd probably be helping him pack his bags and asking if I could come too. ;o)
I'm glad to hear your dogs are so smart. Maybe they're just picky. Those are some ugly frogs!!
It sucks having a one of those summer jobs in an isolated area without your own transportation. You are kind of stuck having to put up with whatever bad habits your boss or other employees have.
-Susan
Those frogs are freaky!! Rather huge things aren't they? And that job sounds really fishy! I would be calling "said" pizza owner and asking for details. Weird!!
I am so sorry that you haven't heard anything or seen anything. My heart goes out to you.
I "ditto" that sentiment. Sound downright fishy to me. Eeew.........on the poisonous toads! But I guess it's good for insect control!
My son would be so sad to find a giant toad and not be able to play with it! How interesting.
