Random Recent Stuff

As always
busy beyond belief

have decided that after the wedding
which I will post
I will not write on this blog any more
and devote myself to accomplishing the goal
of finishing my book
self publishing and all that entails

I'm seeing more and more blogs close down
as people move on
and I'm sad by that
but I know how it is

life is about change and growing

Quinn is sold and that was hard for me
but I'm accepting it and happy for him
as he gets ridden much more than he did here
and also accepting that we will
sell a couple more horses
in order to get our numbers down
so we can travel more

dogs you can board
horses not so much

rest assured that we will not sell every horse
just the ones that are useable that we don't use

I always said that when I quit being so busy
living this crazy life
I'd write stories about it
and I know I'm slowing down now

to be honest
since that riding accident
my back hasn't been the same
and I can't do the things I used to

it's time to sit back
write the book I said I would
while watching, supporting and guiding
the next generation coming up (Mercy)

which leaves no time to blog

I'll still be around
and I'll post once in while maybe...

in the meantime
here's a few pictures shot recently

winter riding

looking at tracks on the ground
which we figured out to be where someone
had driven in to pick up dead trees for firewood
and dragged them out

when we came home
I thought it would be a good idea
to pull out that cowhide I started to tan
which is now just salted
because I couldn't find enough alum
to finish it

no matter
it works fine

scares the horses to pieces
Smoke is having none of that
no way

Mercy, Wade and 20 dogs

they just don't know
but it sure smells funky

Bo was the first horse to accept it
and step on and over it

Smoke took some more time
but he eventually got over it too

*************

random sand castle with moat picture

*****************

so the other day
I told Grandma
I would like it if she and Mercy
would paint a
"family tree"
on the wall for me

once it's done
I'll print out copies of everyone's picture
laminate them
and put them up on the tree

so they got the paints out
and got busy

I got out of their way

I think they did a great job!

Pinterest strikes again

Sorry to see you go! I enjoyed your blogging over the last few years. Good luck with the writing.

I'll be sorry to see you go too! I always love checking in to see how things are going but I figure I'll be able to keep up via Pinterest and FB.

I too am pondering shutting down. It just doesn't seem the same anymore, not enough time to keep up.

That family tree is AWESOME. Pinterest is going to be the death of me, or maybe the death of my free time :)

wonderful tree! Sorry you are felling you need to stop blogging, you will be missed I do like the idea of you keeping it open for the odd picture. Really looking forward to the book when you are done. The self publishing part , is not as overwhelming as I thought it would be, though my book/books are small and poetry , so not sure how the editing and such would go for you.I wish you the very best with it , and will be hoping to buy a signed copy when it is complete!

I know how you feel, and my life isn't nearly as busy as yours!! Whether you continue to blog or not, you're still on my list of people to visit when we get to that point in our lives. If I was a mom, I'd want to be just like you...and if I had a choice of mom's I'd choose you ;~)

Look forward to the wedding pics...and the book!!

Wishing you the best in everything you do~

I hope you change your mind about not blogging. I do so enjoy reading about all your escapades; nobody does life like you, Mikey! Maybe you can just blog a couple times a month....so we can still have our Mikey fix and it won't be too time-consuming on your end. Hope so and in the meantime....best wishes for you and Wade...can't wait to see the wedding photos!!

Keep writing your book, Mikey. If I can help in any way, let me know. I appreciate your blog and your support--and I think you are a great writer. Let's try and stay in touch. I look forward to hearing about your wedding.

Blogs seem to have a lifespan. I'll miss yours but I hope you will stop by mine once in awhile... and that I'll still see you on Facebook.

I have turned to my blogs as a way to note the hows and whys and whatevers of training my pony to drive and cooking good food. Some days I can't seem to get motivated on either one.

Good luck on the book and the family tree is beautiful!

They did do a great job! You better not disappear. But I suppose if your blog posts are few and far between, people will miss you so much that they'll pay anything for your book. I get it... this is just your marketing plan.

please don't leave us, maybe one or two posts a month, just to let us know you are ok. your life is full of so many things, we need to know that you are still alive and going strong.

That tree ROCKS!

I hope you don't 100% shut down your blog. By all means, quit blogging if it's not fun anymore - but when the mood strikes you, post something, and when you're not feeling it, don't worry about it. Just leave it dormant. :)

Good luck to you Mikey. I understand the urge to move on to different things. I closed down the blog you knew me at & started a different one. I'm not sure what happened to my motivation after that but I don't post nearly as often.

They did a teriffic job on that tree too!

Mikey, I know how you feel about blogging. Frankly, I only do desert horses a couple times a week now. I actually spend more time on my two travel blogs. Also, yes, several people have closed their blogs and have moved on! Hey, please DO blog once in a while so that we know what y'all are up to!

It does seem like my old stand bys are signing off and I keep wondering if I should do the same as I also have a book to write. "They" say writers should have a blog, but there's only so much time to go around. How do you do the writing you want to get published done?

I'll be interested to see how this works for you.

I absolutely love the relationship your daughter has with her grandma. My mom died when my boys were small. They remember her but not really. I miss her and so do they...

Keep your blog open; its always fun to check if something new is posted. Its an easy way to hone writing skills and its a great audience to market to when that book is done.

Good luck!

I understand about changes in life, and you sure do have a lot going on. I'm glad you won't totally desert your blog, it's been quite the ride following your escapades, and especially watching Mercy grow up. I remember when your heart would skip a beat watching her trot, and how she progressed with Reba, to the li'l cowgirl she is now. I'd love to be able to cheer her on, and I sure am looking forward to your wedding post. I'll keep you in the blogs I follow, so I'll know when you do get around to posting. And hey- I'll make it to Arizona one day, see you sometime!

I will miss you. You've been an inspiration to me - my Arizona Cowgirl Pal! It's meant much to me when you've dropped by my blog and left commenets on my Posts. I hope you'll stop by every once in awhile and leave a comment as you see fit. Know you are busy and moving on but like others who have commented here, I hope you keep your blog open and post updates every once in awhile. If not, Happy Trails my friend!

It's obvious you are going to be greatly missed; and we all understand about life changes. It's important to follow your dreams! However, I'm not counting you gone until you ARE gone - and hope maybe someday we can still meet to ride your wonderful desert area.

Letme suggest you check in once every three months nice all of us will buy your book and this blog can be a marketing tool.

Thanks for your sweet comment on Smokey. It's been tough, but I know it was the right thing. Now I just have to get through Sunday....

Hope you'll check in every now and then. It's been a real pleasure to read your "adventures" and watch Mercy grow up. She was just a little thing and now look at her. You and Wade have done a great job with her. Looking forward to seeing a recap of the wedding and wish you guys all the love and happiness in the world!

Love the tree, they are so talented.

Please try K-Tape (http://www.kttape.com/index.php) for your back or any other part that is bothering you. I swear, this stuff really really works. (no, i don't sell it or work for the company). When drugs and therapy failed for a wonky knee, the tape gave me relief after wearing it for about 12 hours.

I think it is very wise, though hard, to sell or rehome some of your horses. You'll enjoy that extra time for sure. And the thing about time, is that you just can't get it back. Life is precious and short, so enjoy!

Wait. What color is your wedding dress? Are you going to post pictures of that? Come OOOOOONNNN!!!

Life is all about change. And, that's neither good nor bad, it just is. You do what you feel is right in your heart. Lately, I come and I go on my blog, as I feel drawn to. I like the connectedness of blogging and I've met and made some incredible friends. I'm reluctant to give that up entirely, although there are times I feel the need for a break. There are no rules.

Good luck with your book. I have one that I've had perculating in the back of my brain for a while. I keep threatening to write it, but so far, I've only written a few words.

The family tree is a nice idea. They did an excellent job!

I love the family tree, Mikey! Great Idea!

I've enjoyed your blog and hearing about your busyness too. Live life to the fullest must be your motto (smile). I hope you let us know how you & yours are doing from time to time.

Many years ago hubby & I were stationed in Arizona...at Luke AFB in Glendale. I absolutely loved Arizona then but the parts we saw aren't so pristine anymore. I still would like to return but hubby says it would "bust my bubble." Oh well!

Best wishes on finishing your book and having it published, Mikey.

I will miss reading your posts, but I can understand how life does get busier and no time for a blog. But hope to see you on here once in a while. I love the family tree too, sure turned out beautifuly!

First I'd like to congratulate you on the wedding!!! That is great news!
Second, I am sad to hear that you won't be blogging anymore :( I have gone through so many emotions over the whole blogging thing, and I probably would have stopped completely if it wasn't for the opportunity to retire! I was just to darn exhausted to continue the blog if I was still going to be working at the barn. But please don't be a stranger!! I will miss your blog and all of your crazy adventures!! Keep in touch! (and I can't wait for you to publish a book!!)
And last, I wish we could have hooked up again in Scottsdale, I sent you a message on facebook but you probably didn't realize it was me since it came under my real name, not my blogger name! Even though I won't be traveling with my job to Scottsdale in the future, I am seriously thinking about flying down for a visit while the show is going on next year...we will see. And if so then I would love to see you and the family again!

UH!!! You CANT leave for good. I've never had a friend that even knows what alum is, let alone where to get it. (where did you find some?) I guess salting works ok..my fur is still here?
...or. you can devote a chapter to AZ roadkill in your book. haha.

Congrats on the wedding :)

Books do need to get promoted and blogs are great for that, so maybe you could just slow way down (like I have with mine) and that way we won't miss you so much. Just blog when you feel like it and don't feel that you have to "keep up" with it. Change is inevitable and we're all looking forward to your book. Have fun at your wedding!

I understand about not blogging, but I;ll be so sorry to let you go. I write everyday, not always blogging, but blogging has been a great way for me to warm up to my 'real' writing! Plus I get a lot of great ideas and comments to use!
Remember I'll always be available for critique if you need it.(writing wise that is!)
Much sucess!
